The Learning Mill
Overview
The Learning Mill has been open since Spring 2018. We remodeled an old feed mill into a state of the art childcare facility. We opened our second floor classrooms in the winter of 2022, so now we have six infant and toddler rooms downstairs and preschool, prek, and school age upstairs!
We accept State, Military, and VA subsidies
Services Included in Tuition
- No hour cap on care
- Breakfast, lunch, and afternoon snack
- Learning, art, activities, and outside time daily

We are a Keystone STARS 2 facility! This means that we go above and beyond the DHS requirements and regulations when it comes to health, safety, and learning! STARS ensures that we emphasize heavily on the above mentioned areas and they check in with us often to make sure we are following the requirements to be part of the program.
Tour Our Classrooms!!!
Infant Room
Our infant room is for children 6 weeks to 12 months of age. We provide a calm, loving environment for our infants. We work on helping every baby achieve milestones and give them the individualized care they need. We recognize that each baby will develop at their own pace and we give them the tools they need to succeed. We understand that it is very hard for parents to leave their babies, so we strive to give each baby the love, care and attention that they deserve while parents are away during the day.
Young Ones Room
Our Young Ones room is for babies who are one and still perfecting the skills of a young toddler. They are new to walking, self feeding, drinking from a sippy cup, eating finger foods, language, sleeping on a nap mat, and many other tasks. This room allows them to fine tune these skills before moving on to our One Year old room. Toddlers will move from this room once they are comfortable in these skills.
One Year Old Room
Our One Year old room is designed to allow young toddlers to explore as they continue to grow and master new skills. They learn how to begin self care such as hand washing, cleaning up toys, running, climbing, more language development, and much more. Toddlers will move from this room once they are able to sit in chairs to eat meals, feed themselves completely and begin using utensils, and put themselves to sleep with little aid.
Young Twos Room
Our Young Two year old room is designed to continue working on self help skills as well as pretend and peer play. We work on sharing with friends, learning how to wait your turn, how to line up, use utensils to eat, begin drinking from a regular cup, and help adapt better fine and gross motor functions. Toddlers will move from this room once they are on their way with these skills.
Two Year Old Room
The two year old room is where older toddlers will begin potty training and begin utilizing multi-faceted play with peers. Older toddlers will learn how to follow center rules to prepare them for pre-school. They will learn how to respect their environment and eachother. We really focus on the emotional aspects of being a toddler transitioning into preschool by showing them how to resolve conflicts and how to calm their minds and bodies. Children transition from this room once they turn three, unless their birthday is after Sept. 1st.
Pre-school Extension Room
Our Pre-school extension room is for the children who turn three after September 1st. These children get an extra year of preschool preperation! This classroom focuses on academics as well as building independence and peer interactions. This room also gives the children who need extra time potty training the time they need before heading upstairs to preschool.
Preschool Room
Preschool is year one of our Kindergarten readiness program. This class is for children who are two years out from starting Kindergarten. We provide a well-rounded curriculum that will provide in-depth learning for three year olds. They will learn language, math, science, art, how to write and spell their first names, how to tie their shoes and zip their jackets, how to pretend play, build, and explore the world around them!
Pre-K Room
This program is year two of our Kindergarten readiness program and is designed for children one year out from the start of Kindergarten. We provide a well-rounded curriculum that is designed for four year olds. We focus more in depth language, math, and science skills as well as art, how to write and spell last names along with other words. They will work on problem solving skills and conflict resolution. This program will have them easily intergrating into Kindergarten.
School-Age Room
This room is for Kindergarten through 5th grade (we make accomodations for children with special needs who may need care longer than elementary school). We get children on and off buses, provide homework help, and fun activities after school.
